Candidate Biography
Mike Ramondelli was born in Yonkers on New Years Day in 1962, one of five children to Lex & “May” (Sacco) Ramondelli. He attended both public and parochial schools in Yonkers, and graduated Saunders High School with the Class of 1980.
After high school, Mike worked his way through Mercy College at night by holding down a job driving a concrete mixing truck as a member of the Teamsters Union, Local #456, eventually earning a B.S. in Journalism and Media. Out of college, Mike was hired by IBM where he worked until he answered a call for recruitment to teach, as there was regional teacher shortage during this time. He decided to go back to school to work towards a teaching degree. Mike worked as a classroom teacher in New York City and Yonkers public schools.
Mike left teaching to pursue a career as a businessman and entrepreneur. After honing his skills at a family business, from scratch he started a Yonkers-based document destruction and recycling company called InfoShred. Under Mike’s dedicated leadership, InfoShred grew out of a spare room in his house to become one of the Tri-State Area’s largest data destruction and recycling companies, servicing some of its largest hospitals, law firms and insurance companies. With nearly 20 employees, InfoShred was sold in 2005 to Recall, Inc.
Mike went on to build and sell another Yonkers business, a retail gourmet food store and catering company called Deli Express, which continues to operate and employ Yonkers residents.
Currently Mike runs Absolute Business Equipment, an equipment sales and service company, also located in Yonkers.
Mike is a member of Sacred Heart Parish and is active in the civic community. He was appointed to the Board of Directors of the Yonkers Parking Authority in 2006, and has served on the Mayor’s Community Relations Committee.
