Candidate Biography
George Amedore was elected Assemblyman of the 105th Assembly District by special election on July 31, 2007; he was overwhelmingly re-elected to the post during the 2008 elections. Assemblyman Amedore’s district includes all of Montgomery and part of Schenectady Counties. George also serves as Vice President of Amedore Homes, a locally owned and operated second-generation family business that has created hundreds of private sector jobs throughout the community by building quality homes for thousands of satisfied families.
Born and raised in Schenectady County, he is the eldest of five brothers brought up in a traditional, working class Italian-American family. His family built their business from scratch, all the while teaching George and his brothers the values of family, hard work, decency and honesty. It is these core values, which George Amedore draws upon to shape his legislative priorities. He has cited five core issues, which represent his highest priorities for the people of the 105th district. He believes that cutting job-killing taxes, investing in education, making healthcare more affordable, reducing the high cost of energy, and ending wasteful spending are critical to the future success of New York.
Assemblyman Amedore understands the value of providing a quality product, meeting a payroll and most importantly, giving something back to his community. In early 2007, he led Amedore Homes in donating their time and expertise to building a home for a special family chosen by the ABC television show “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.” Amedore Homes also helped to pay off the family’s mortgage.
